In the Mirror

Staring in the mirror

But a day or two ago

The person that I saw

No longer did I know

The harder that I stared

The more foreign she became

The childish whims forgotten

A new path to be displayed

Her eyes held more wisdom

Her smile carried more regret

Her head was lifted higher

There was a strength in her step

Alas twas at this moment

I faced the bittersweet truth

That I had grown older

And lost my carefree youth
