The Memory of You

Today I heard you were still around
That you were still in town
That you hadn't yet left for college
and I don't know how I should feel about that
We use to spend long nights laughing
Talking on the phone till we were tired and exhausted
Use to spend early mornings together having fun
And goofing around
Then one day you just decided to up and leave
When I hear that you haven't left town
The memory of you still lingers
Is present in my mind
Some nights I wonder if you ever think about me,
Remember me,
Like I do you.
Did you ever look back after you left?
Did you ever regret the decision you made?
All these questions and more seem to cross my mind,
Questions I will never get the chance to ask you.
Where have you been?
What have you seen?
What have you been through,
Since you have been gone,
since I last saw you,
since I've had nothing but the memory of you?
