Memoirs of the Heartless

I watched in utter shock and disbelief

The mouth that kissed me the day before

Was now bringing me to tears

Not missing a beat as he ripped me apart.

I know it hurts but the pain is necessary, right?

Everything meant to tear you down and build you up again,

but it was your love that caused me to become heartless.

Somehow, being heartless was better than being heartbroken

and finding comfort in your absence brought peace.

And so, because I love you, I set fire to every memory we made

and with a smile, I watched it go up in flames.
