In Loving Memory

One year ago today,
The sweetest boy I had ever met
Took away his own life.
Nobody knew.
He looked so happy.
He was so special.
It was not supposed to happen.
He was meant to go to high school with us,
To sing with Maddy in the choir.
No one will ever be quite like him.
He was loved.
He still is.
I wonder what he thinks when he looks down and sees his friends crying over him.
Would he take it back?
Talk to someone?
Would he still be here if it weren't for those boys who teased him?
He was different.
Yes
He wasn't a jerk and
He was ridiculed for it.
Music has had a new meaning for us since his death.
We find beauty in everything.
Just like he had.
He taught us to love
To enjoy life
And even though he is gone now,
He lives in all of us.

He looked so happy.
Nobody ever knew..
