Love is Life, Love is Alive

These verses are for you and me

For our eyes to see

Light where there was darkness

And love where there was fear

They left scars

Deeper than any gun wound

A bitter taste in my soul

Disgusting like rotting flesh

They took my peace and security

And left fear and frustration

They took hope and serenity

But left hands and inspiration

And for this I must give thanks

Knowing thanks in the next breath I take

And for this I will love them

For love is still alive
