A Love That Leaves And Returns

Location

oh, purest of unities:
the virgin shore
and the powerfully gentle waves.

seemly and shy,
the sand shifts beneath the weight
of a changing element;
frozen, and feeling
the push and pull of a question,
the circling of a possibility,
the tip-toe of a wondering.

The question:
"what, when, and where will you do, see, and go?
can I take you with me to somewhere you have never known?
am I going too fast? am I going too slow?
whisper, speak, tell me, what you wish I would know."

The answer:
"I am small
so I will fit into whatever puzzle we create.
I admire you
so I will love you when you leave
and adore you when you stay."
