I used to look in the mirror

and I used to see something gross

and stupid

 

I used to ignore my friends and family

because I thought I wasn't worth their time

 

I used to give up

because I thought there was no point in trying

 

I used to hurt myself

because I thought I deserved it

 

Now I look in the mirror

and I see something beautiful

and amazing

 

Now I talk to everyone-

even strangers

 

Now I try

and I succeed

 

Now I take care of myself

because I deserve it,

because I want to live the best life I can

and I am
