What is this I'm doing?
Falling from a building?
Left and right building move swiftly around me...
Below the hard surface 3....2....1...
Close my eyes hope to die...
Splat...or so I would have thought...
I open my eyes Water? I'm sinking....
I figure why not drown...
But wait? What am I doing?
Breathing? How?
Slowly the sunlight from the water's surface fades...
As I fall deeper and deeper into the dark abyss....
No one can save me for it is too deep for them to swim in the dark...
Except for one who is neither person nor creature but what is this?
Dark winged and dark faced....
But strangely a bright light it gives off...
"It isn't you time...." It speaks...
Slowly it grabs my hands which I have been unaware to becoming totally numb.
It’s bright presence surround me and fills me with warmth...
"But I have no reason to continue my purpose is meaningless here."
Slowly its wing enveloped me embracing me in a warm hug...
"But my dear...you purpose is to bring joy to someone else’s life."
"I couldn’t bring joy to even the happiest person in the world...”
"All I would do is make them depressed like me..."
The embrace tightened....
"But you see.....you’re the joy in my life....You're MY light...how else could I find you in this darkness."
"My bright blond hair would give me away..."
What is this feeling? Why can I see this thing?
Sand...We finally touched the bottom of the ocean where no light should be...
But I saw light coming off this perfect being
"You see...everyone is standing around you...but all you see is darkness"
"Now look at me, what do you see?"
Looking dead in his eyes, "In this darkness? I see light."
And like a mirror the darkness shattered and I was laying on the shores of the beach...
Looking around hoping to see my mystery creature I saw no one...
But in my hand a lone black feather stood...
I whispered one last time so that the wind would sweep away my hurt...
"In this darkness I see light..."

I wrote this poem in honor of my best friend, Justin. Through the hardest time of my depression, he always pulled me through and brought be back to the light. He saved my life and now I live to share my story with others

This poem is truly amazing. I have been in a similar situation. Read my poems and you can see how I've dealt with the darkness
