Letters from the past

At first I thought the issue was me.

But then I saw my mother.

I thought the issue was her.

But then I saw my aunt.

I thought the issue was her.

But then I saw my grandmother.

I thought the issue was her.

But then I heard them speak.

Blaming others and each other

Blaming the world and all but themselves.

But where does it end?

It doesn't.

They blame the ones before them or the ones after,

Never the men,

Never themselves.

Only other women.

If this is our legacy,

I don't want it.

If this is my destiny,

I won't take it.

If this is my family,

Then let me be an orphan.

Because there is nothing to be gained,

When the women hate each other and everyone around them

But expect others to fix their problems.
