My mother came to visit me today
An hour and a half she would stay
She told me I was beautiful
Reminded me I was special
And so I wrote her a letter
For the things I should of said better

It said, "Thank you for being my mother
I wouldn't of asked for another
And I hope your smile is there to greet
Me until my heart's last beat"
But she didn't find my note
Until they found me afloat

I see the pain in her eyes
The pain from when someone dies
Her daughter gone
To Heaven, with angels I'll hold on
And so I wrote her a letter
For the things I should of said better

It said, "Thank you for being my mother
I wouldn't of asked for another
And I hope your smile is there to greet
Me until my heart's last beat"
But she didn't find my note
Until they found me afloat

I'm sorry, my mother, for the pain
May sorrow not be your soul's reign
And yes, my death was premature
But there's one thing I know for sure
It was my mother who was always there
Even when I had passed for a year
