Learning Through Words

True love’s kiss, first experienced through written words.

First of all kinds memorialized in the pages between her fingers.

At home with the ink stained paper.

A quiet girl who had loud mind.

Calmed by the words of poetry.

A security blanket drafted from words.

A little girl who learned mortality through Keats.

Listened to the finality of his existence.

Learned of sorrow.

A little Girl who learned of adventure through Coldridge.

Learned of consequences a moral tale.

Learned the price of living alone and unaided.

Learned how to appreciate others much more.

A little girl who learned of beauty from Shakespeare.

Sonnets of love and desire filled her heart.

Of being yourself in the face of love.

A little girl who learned of darkness through Poe.

The world is not always a happy or fair place.

Evil can be disguised in many forms.

Lessons learned through words.

Growing up on poetry.

This poem is about:
Me
My family
