Just a Cup of Tea

Could tea be my new alcohol?

I would let it fool me that I am warm

I would drink it as it burned down my throat

I would let it take control

Because for awhile, a very short while

The tea will be my euphoria

Releasing my endorphins free

I will feel relieved

Just for that short moment

After the buzz is gone.

I am cold

My  throat, raw

My body lost

Temptations, old

Because for awhile, a very short while

The tea was my euphoria

Setting my stress free

The pain settles, but twice as hard

A collection of short moments

All on repeat, but I can hardly recall

I am gone

My throat is annihilated

My body is useless

Because for awhile, a very short while

I believed substance could aqcuire to my abstance

Of feeling nothing at all
