IT

You’re told to get over it, like it’s a cold

You’re supposed to grow out of it

But it will choke you

It will make you drink all the liquor off the top shelf

It will tell you lies, it will sink you so low

you’ll drown

It will try to kill you.

When you see a doctor, it will tell you

nothing will ever help you.

It will tell you you will be stuck in its grasp

forever.

You can force yourself to pop pills

no guarantee they’ll work.

Your wellbeing isn’t worth fighting for, it says

It is not like a cold.

It’s a fight for your life, and some people don’t win

It’s a trip, and

I just wanna get off this train.
