The inner, braver, courageous me

Way deep down, hidden from sight,

Like stars in the day instead of the night,

I keep concealed where no one can see,

The inner, braver, courageous me.

Cowed by timidity, marked by blank fear,

My other me keeps her hidden here.

It's safer to cower, safer to hide.

Safer to only be brave inside.

If people knew of the stronger me,

Who knows what they'd expect me to be?

At all times daring, audacious, and bold?

What if I should fail, leave them in the cold?

So I keep concealed where no one can see,

The inner, braver, courageous me.

Behind a curtain, veiled from sight.

But always ready, for a friend need me might.
