I'm sorry I promised

I couldn't help it, I couldn't.
The colors wouldnt work
You couldn't get along with the others.
You thrashed without moving
I could not keep you.

I knew from the moment I picked up that brush
that you would cry.
Inch your way into the canvas hoping I wouldn't,
that i wouldnt do it.
But I did.

I painted over you with
A color.
New, demanding, twinkling.
Nothing plain, far from it,
Compared to you, White.
