If the Beginning of the World Was Put To Music

At the edge of the Universe
There is nothing, no one, no where
I don’t know how, but I am there
I open my eyes
And close them again
I am floating in the sea
Slowly pulled inwards
Pitch black and completely silent
I wonder why I ever feared the dark
In all of its grand mystery
As it hides in itself and wraps around me
I do not need to fear what I do not know
As what does not know me is infinite
So floating here
In this vast black expanse of absolutely nothing
And possibly everything
I learn to see what I do not know
And hope to know where I might be.
A faint hollow sound begins to resonate
And with it the smallest light in the sky glows alone
Yet two more voices join the first
Then ten
Then a thousand
Until the once black sky is ablaze with a million pulsating stars
A dazzling myriad
A solemn choir
Their heavy voices
Stir the winds of the Earth
As they chase one another
And whistle their euphoric tunes
Only to wake the sleepy sea
Who rustles its rhythmic waves
And joins in the symphony
Below my feet
A hum resonates from the ground
And I see the hills rising
Rising to mountains
Wrenching the ground upwards
Their powerful humming joining the stars
Joining the winds
Joining the sea
And then the warmest voice crescendos beyond all
Warm and soft
Is the rising Sun
A pale yellow child of the Universe
Her warm light blanketing Earth
Slowly rising to welcome her melodious friends.
