I left thee

I left thee
in the waters
of my cold
and crashing words
they descended on you-
dark and foaming-
as the world’s most bitter storm
how dare you say good-bye!
how dare you leave me to rot!
You forced me to drown you
with my disdainful speech
so that you’d forget me not!
the blue hands
dragged you deep down,
and left you floating
breathless and without sound;
all the salt and liquid hate
filled you so that you’d always know
it was I that let you drown
but it was you that let go!
