I Know Why The Night Turns to Day

Based off of “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” by Maya Angelou

The Day roars sunlight at the first break of morning

and sheds out his mane till only his sun commands

and pounces happily in his playful freedom.

But, the Night stands waiting in pure silence

can seldom make a single cracking sound

her mystification too secret and her precious treasures unknown so she cannot remain.

The Night hides in pitch darkness

from the seekers of her truth

and her dark mysterious tune lures them in

for the Night turns for her security.

The Day sings with a different upbeat melody

and spins displaying other vibrant furs

and with no withholding restrictions he roams owning the land.

But the Night sticks to her defenses

her fate held on glistening churning waves

her mystification too secret and her precious treasures unknown so she cannot remain.

The Night hides in pitch darkness

from the seekers of her truth

and her dark mysterious tune lures them in

for the Night turns for her security.
