I Know a Mermaid

They say if you drown in the ocean
You become a mermaid

You always ate the end peice of the loaf
Now they sit molding in a basket.

You hated bully's
But  I just saw a kid get shoved down

You always brushed Devlin
Now his coats getting too thick, like the tears in my eyes.

You weren't a Christian, but they called you Jesus
And for good reasons.

We use to split the Safeway Sushi
Now I eat it all, with a bitter taste

I know a merman
And he wears my brothers face.

Its short and the structure is pretty basic, but this poem packs a punch. You convey your emotions effectively. It's sad and well written.
