I Found Him in My Pew

Location

I found Him in my pew.

Section A row 36 seat 2 I found Him waiting for me.

Not wanting much He sat and watched the sermon.

Back straight hands folded eyes straight ahead He looked like a statue.

I was 7. He was a little older.

I found Him in my pew.

Section A row 36 seat 2 I found Him waiting for me.

Not wanting much He sat and tapped His foot to the music.

Drums pounding guitar jamming voices harmonizing His foot tapped to the same rhythm of my heart He no longer looked like a statue.

I was 12. He was a little older.

I found Him in my pew.

Section A row 36 seat 2 I found Him waiting for me.

Not wanting much He stood and clapped His hands.

Smiling laughing with nostalgia remembering all His children He looked like a proud Father in the crowd.

I was 15. He was a little older.

I no longer saw Him in my pew.

Section A row 36 seat 2 I hit my rebellious stage.

Questioning the sermon questioning the rhythm questioning Him.

I was 17. He was a little older

I found Him at my front door.

Street A complex 36 apartment 2 He was waiting for me.

Not wanting much He grabbed my hand, and walked with me to my pew.

I was 17 and a half. He was what kept me going.
