I Am Not But I Am

Location

I am not too funny
Not delightfully clever
I am not beautiful,
Being that my face does not inspire poems or ballads
My tall lanky frame is not the object of envy
When I walk into a room no one stops and stares
to whisper of my many talents, or lack there of
But there is one I am proud of
one that gives me unbridled joy
The feeling I get
when I pick up a pen, a pencil, a paintbrush
and sweep it across a blank, unassuming page
When I breathe life onto it with a few flicks of my wrists
And suddenly,
staring back at me
is something I can take pride in
So I am not too funny
Not delightfully clever
I am not beautiful
But I can create life with a pencil
And that makes me happy
