I am alive

I am a man.

I’m sure my reputation proceeds me

I know just how you’ll perceive me

But I’m begging please believe me

Please open your eyes and see me

I am a human

I have flesh and bones like you

I have hopes for the future too

I have room in my bed for two

But I’m suffering alone like you

I am lonely

There’s a coldness in my bed

There’s a storm inside my head

There’s a scar I cannot shed

Most days I wish I were dead

But I’m alive

There’s a spark still here inside

There’s a light you cannot hide

And for all I thought had died

I can say I’m still alive

Me
