How can I say Thank you?

What can you say to the man,

Who never gave up on you?
        Does thank you suffice,

        When he saved your life,

Or is there something more you can do?

I’ve procrastinated long enough,

So I’m writing my thank you note now,

        Thank you for my life,

        For not giving up

And thank you for showing me how

        To never give up

        To overcome odds

And how to get up when life knocks you down

        Because without you

I could not have pulled through

And cancer would’ve taken me out

It would have taken me from my family

Taken the mere nine years I had lived

       But in the right hands

       I’m making long-term plans

To help kids who are now in my shoes

So Thank you, Dr. George,

For helping me find

What I am to do in this life

To show that a diagnosis

Doesn’t have to be a bad prognosis

And to give back to the people who saved me.
