Heart Of Gold

He laid you delicately on her neck,
you shimmered in the bright sun.
A symbol of love between them,
a prize so easily won.

But he soon decided to leave,
and so he left you there.
He left her as well,
he didn't even care.

So she tore you off
and hid you away.
Shoved you very far,
not to look at you another day.

You are a reminder of love she once had,
but it couldn't be bought or sold.
I will remember you dearly,
my little heart of gold.
