People were buzzing

Did you hear, did you hear

what he said

 

They were tweeting 

about the ridiculous lies 

 

He'll build a wall 

they said, they said

 

He'll save us 

they said

 

But on November 8th

the numbers came in 

And they didn't see the faces

the crying faces

of women

of children

of the people who lost their rights

 

their rights to their bodies

their rights to their love 

their rights to religion 

 

He promised great 

But this wasn't great

This was hate

This was fear

This was horror 

This was families shaking with tears

The hate won the country 

The hate ruled the country

 

America was no longer great

America was hate

And hate hurts
