happily ever after

I don't believe in fairy tales.
Happy endings are
More often than not
A figment of the mind,
A dream during rest,
A star in the sky,
And a weight on the heart.

Happily ever after does not exist,
Not for everyone.
Not here, not now.
It is an expectation that is often unachieved.

For those of whom it is obtained,
Congratulations. You conquered the remaining fools.
To the remaining fools,
Grow up.
Happily ever after
Is
Not
Real.
