Great Pan

Hear me,

oh cruel gods of Olympus,

for one of your own is fading.

Pan is dying,

oh our beloved Pan is dying.

"Great Pan is dead!"

Thamus yells.

Alas, the news is only greeted

with our groans and laments.

But Hermes,

why is it that you not mourn?

Satyrs and dryads alike

all mourn for the death of your son.

Do you not love him so?

Have you abandoned him

as his mother had?

Take heed,

oh cruel gods of Olympus,

for one day,

you too,

shall fade, and die,

for the Great Pan has died today.
