The Glint

You can be stoic or Mesozoic,
Euphoric or prehistoric,
A philosophic sage or
A hot tropic age yet
The fossils of your past,
In the striations of your heart,
Unveil the truth at last—
Where the real you got its start;
For a smile may conceal
And the tongue can often lie
But the glint that will reveal
Is the one within your eye.
