Girl, Unmasked

Do you know the girl behind the mask?

Everyone thinks they do; they could not be more wrong.

Photography saved her when pain changed her,

Reality made her the very thing she had feared;

Everything and everyone around her made it worse.

She now has energy-draining depression,

She now has cripling anxiety.

Ice-cream cannot fix this- she knows it is bad,

One person showed up and changed it all- made everything better, then left,

Now she is left more broken than ever; wondering if it will ever get better.
