Freshman

The sun is setting and the leaves are turning red

or are they green

Sit in the windowsill and lean back on the bed

Sniff in the citronella whistle through your nose

clean

Kick up the comforter good morning to your toes

Getting old is getting old

and getting older's

never over

You know, when you're not lonely when you're alone

then you're a grown up

And oh my God how we've grown up

Don't you think so?

Your friends are not the same old people that you knew

keen

Don't be a stranger but

be careful who

you talk

to
