Freedom

Wed, 11/06/2013 - 19:10 -- Julia.

Location

His velvety soft muzzle

gently felt my face. Each whisker

tickling my soul.

With a foot in his stirrup I lifted

myself on to his back.

Hugging his neck, I could feel his heartbeat

in my hand. The thump, thump in sync

with my own.

Running my fingers through his mane

I whispered in his ear to run,

To run as fast as his legs could.

And we galloped together as one, brothers,

riding effortlessly into the sunset.

We became the wind that ran through

our hair. Gracefully leaping over streams

flowing as quick as our blood.

The sun beating down on our backs

kissed us goodbye as we ran in to the moonlight.

We needed no stars to guide us,

We were free.
