The Forgotten

We said never again.

NEVER AGAIN! NEVER AGAIN! NEVER AGAIN!

Those words echoed in our minds.

Never again would let blood thirsty beasts get away with murder.

Never again would those who died be forgotten.

We said never again.

But it happened again.

We watched it unfold on the TV

and gasped, cried, and screamed.

We wanted justice for them.

We wanted the murderers dead.

Then one day it vanished from the screens.

Our voices became mere whispers then silence.

Yet it never ended.

A vampire named Omar al-Bashir

continues to roam the land

slaughtering more innocent victims.

Many of them flee to foreign lands

where they or their children may never come back home.

Even though they fled,

the dance of death never escapes them.

Disease and hunger ravages them.

Young minds aren’t developed in a classroom.

Without the tools, their futures are poor.

Voices cry out in the camps

WHEN WILL WE GET OUR JUSTICE?

YOU HAVE SEEN WHAT HAS HAPPENED!

HOW MUCH LONGER MUST THIS LAST?

How much longer must this last?

How many more lives will be lost?

We said never again.

Yet it happened again.

And they are the forgotten.
