THE FLIP SIDE OF ME

Location

Glittery makeup,

Skimpy uniforms,

Loud, blasting music,

ADRENALINE RUSH.

The button is pressed,

I’m ready to start,

On the blue cheer mat,

I put on my show.

“Cheerleader, bimbo,

Dumb blonde, fake athlete”

No it’s not true, but

That’s what people think.

Jumping, tumbling,

Dancing, and stunting,

Pushing the limits

To beat our best score.

Make sure it’s flawless,

Because two minutes

And thirty seconds,

Is all that we’ve got.

It may be a high,

Putting on my show,

But that part of me

Is all that they know.

Numbers everywhere,

Problems to be solved,

Vectors, equations,

ADRENALINE RUSH.

No need for a show,

This is who I am,

In my comfort zone,

That’s where you’ll find me.

“Math nerd, teacher’s pet,

Science dork and geek”

Now that may be true,

But won’t bother me.

Deriving, solving,

And integrating,

Pushing the limits,

Future engineer.

Can’t miss a problem,

Or mess up a proof,

Do all that I can

To show what I’ve learned.

Finding the answer,

Nobody can see,

If only they knew,

The flip side of me.
