A Fierce Feline Friend

A night's slumber is so endearing,

To the point where morning can be fearing,

But when the sun begins to rise in the pink sky,

My beautiful array of dreams begin to wither and die,

Awoken with a sigh, my body stretches and moves like snail,

Then I hear a mew in the air, alerting me of a flicking tail,

There she was, a fierce feline with fur of gray and white,

Her emerald eyes were narrow slits as she purred with delight,

I smiled happily, opening my arms to welcome her in,

To snuggle beneath the covers, stealing her away from my kin,

Her name was Nike, like the Greek goddess of speed,

I love to curl up with her as she would knead,

She is my world, my motivation to the very end,

She was there even though I had no friends,

Such a darling, providing love when with my cries,

I was such a sad child, all my life was full of lies,

She was my constant, her comfort fulfilled me,

It gave me the hope for a better day ahead to see,

Days filled with happiness and hope like never before,

Days filled with beauty and adventure galore,

Then on those days I will thank her in appreciation,

And possibly venture on to a new destination,

I don't know whether I will be near or far,

But I will think of her no matter where we are,

She has brought me this far in life,

I was able to push past all the hate and strife,

Even when she is long gone, I will still awake every day,

I will keep moving forward no matter what people say,
