Extinguish the Raging Fire

Location

When I turn on the nightly news,

I don't watch the weather forecast anymore.

Instead, I see pools of blood and hear piercing gunshots.

War is no longer a thing we avoid at all costs.

It seems as if it has become a staple in our society,

An amusing pastime to watch on our televisions.

Our world has become clouded with a cloak of darkness.

War has fueled our vicious behaviors,

And caused us to sacrifice our compassion.

For ourselves, and for the sake of our humanity,

We must extinguish the raging fire of war.

This year. This month. This day.
