End

I seek no safeguard or heaven,

Nor purgatory or hell for crime,

I do not search for god or demon,

I care not for the religious sublime.

I do not want an eternal soul,

Nor a ghost to exist past my time,

I pay no heed to supernatural suspicion,

I grow tired of watching Life’s pantomime.

Is an End not supposedly what it claims?

To be finished once and for all?

Must people seek further meaning?

Do we need reassure each other at all?

Death is final and with no beyond,

Humanity can prove.

But would it truly be so bad,

To End without reprove?

What I want is an End,

Nothing more or less.

Thus when my ashes drift away,

Finally, my conscience may rest.
