Early Morning Travels

With A pit-pat-pit her feet hit the floor

I can hear her travel the house from my room

One foot slides along as the other thumps

She pauses and I listen. What is she looking for?

Then pit-pat-pit she goes on her way

I hear the light click on in the room next to mine.

Silence.

I call her name. She doesn’t answer.

I hear no pit-pat-pit.

So I get up from my bed to see what she is doing.

There sits my sister smiling at me.

She has all belongings on display. “What are you doing?”

She smiles and only replies, “O – u”

“I love you too.” I smile and turn for my room.

Then I hear pit-pat-pit

She goes back on her way.
