Dust

She was everything her mother had dreamed of

Beautiful soul, bright eyes, charm that Sinatra couldn't live up to

Heart of abundant gold

4 years old and the future was all hers

She was everything her mother had dreamed of

Generous hands, luminous smile, intelliegence that knew no boundaries

7 years old and the future was all hers

She was everything her mother had dreamed of

Alluring voice, independent force, unencumbered state of mind

9 years old and her future was gone

She was everything her mother was afraid of

Degraded body by the hands of demonic men

11 years old and her future was gone

She was everything her mother was afraid of

Beat and bruised, stained soul, muffled cry

15 years old and her future was gone

She was everything her mother was afraid of

Blood blotched legs, restless eyes, thunderous stomach

18 years old and her future was gone

She was everything her mother was afraid of
Ashen corpse, shattered heart, felt by the touch of strangers with wicked incentive
19 years old and she was gone

Dust

Sung Chung,

This poem is such an inspiration. I have written a fiction drama/ thriller with the back drop of human trafficking. Your poem, since I saw first saw it up until now as I am finalizing my book has been in my mind because it describes the issue the people go through when they are trafficked. I would love to quote this poem in my book, however I need your permission. Therefore, I ask you if you could contact me to discuss the process of obtaining the right to use this beautiful but sad poem. Thank you!
