Drifting Apart

I see you two everywhere

I feel the pit in my stomach

You don't need me now

You have a replacement

You don't see me struggling

All you see are your stories

Maybe they do matter more

No matter how I feel about it

Maybe she is more fun

The older memories will stay

Joy somewhat dulled by anger

Laughter quieted by loneliness

Companionship is short lived

Friend, why did you go?

You used to need me,

I thought to be true

I needed you more,

I know that is true.

Didn't you see it?

It is only natural to drift apart, I believe

Though I do hope that someday we will drift together

Though it won't be me that moves

I forgive you for lying still

                  And drifting away
