Determination

Being 13 years old,

Getting to step onto the court with the “big kids”

A sense of pride spewing out of my parents,

A sense of nervousness spewing out of me.

But, my desire to play well never changed.

I had a point to prove.

Age is but a number.

Getting looks from the “big kids”…

Who were supposed to be supportive,

Only pushed me harder.

Since that moment as a 13 year old little girl,

I have given myself this ability,

An ability to focus,

An ability to stay calm,

An ability that turned me into a leader on the court.

I have a strong desire to learn,

To give myself all the opportunities I can,

To not give up.
