destination unknown

Location

Falling slowly into the unknown

at first you do not know you are falling
the darkness is gradual
creeping ever upward

tendrils of smoke snake around your ankles
caressing your body as they take hold
pulling you
down
down
down

at first you resist
you are afraid of the dark
but the harder you fight the faster you fall
and into what you do not know

eventually you grow quiet and just
listen
listen to nothing

it washes over you
fills you
becomes you

you start to float instead of fall
you accept your ending
content with not knowing the final destination

but then the darkness starts to fade
and you realize that it is not and ending
but a beginning
