Dear my fears

Dear my fears,

You’ve weakened me, but I have always overcame you.

No matter the situation, I’ve surpassed the seemingly endless obstacles in which you have bombarded me with.

You’ve controlled me in the past, but no longer will I give you that power.

You’ve made me insecure.

You’ve ruined multiple opportunities for me.

You’ve left me helpless.

You’ve entered my mind and controlled it.

You’ve made me doubt myself

in the past.

But, that’s it.

The past is all you have.

If I were to go back in time, I’m not sure if I would change what you’ve done to me.

Although you’ve put me through so much emotional and mental damage, you’ve made me stronger because of it.

I’ve asked myself, “Would I still be the same person I am today if it weren’t for the emotional distress I’ve been through?”

I don’t believe I would.

If it weren’t for you, I’m not sure where I’d be right now.

Maybe, I would’ve been more successful. Maybe you’ve ruined where and what I could have been.

Maybe, I would be stranded. Maybe my life would have taken a turn for the worst.

The world may never know.

However, I am content. I am happy. I’m back and better than ever.

You might have helped me.

“A gem in disguise,” one might say.

Just maybe

You’ve helped mold me into the person I am today.

And for that, I am forever thankful.
