Dear God

Dear God,

Are you there? Are you really there?

Mass shootings, floods, and fires abound…

yet selfies, self-promotion, and “self” are all around…

Are you there? Are you really there?

Why is there so much pain in this world?

Why is there so much angst?

Do you really love us,

Or are you tired of receiving no Thanks?

Are you there? Are you really there?

Did you abandon us?  Did you leave us?

Or do you think this is all just superfluous?

Are you there? Are you really there?

I see you in nature,

I see you in the trees,

I hear you in a baby’s laughter,

Yet here I am, on my knees…

Asking...Wondering...Pleading...

Are you there? Are you really there?

Please show your power,

Please show your might,

I am growing weary,

And am slowly losing this fight…

Are you there? Are you really there?

I believed in you as a child,

With a beautiful faith and hope,

But time and this world have jaded me,

And left me with no way to cope…

Are you there? Are you really there?

I hope you are…

I dream that you are…

I want you to be…

Within me, beside me,

In front of me and behind me….

There. You. Are.

The Great “I Am”

I’m sorry I doubted you,

I love you, I crown you…

King of my life,

King of my heart,

May we walk together,

And never again be apart...
