Darkness

I lurk in the dark
I am your fear, your regret, your worry
Acting like a judgemental jury

I slink around in the pits of your heart
Gnawing on your soul
Making you pay your toll

Leaving a rip, a gash, a mark
So you have a permanent memory of your doing
The mixed feelings constantly brewing

You'll try to forget my if you were smart
But you'll remember me in the middle of the night
When your heart is dark and full of fright

For darkness never sleeps, never rests
Making you squirm with emotions once surppressed
Try to sleep as you lay in your bed

For I am the dark
I am your fear, your regret, your worry
Slowly, gradually filling your heard with dread
