Dance

The competitive season is over,

But the training is not.

I think there’s so much value

In becoming involved in a sport

Where you are involved throughout

The whole year.

Along with everything else in our culture

That seems so temporary and instantly gratified,

I feel like a lot of kids don’t get encouraged

To follow through beyond the excitement of

Competitions or meets or games.

If you’re doing something you love

Then following through the ebb and flow

Of going to practice offseason

When sometimes you’re not that excited

About it or when there’s not a

Competition next week

Is good for the soul.

Not to mention that is sort of how

The world works.

Some days and months are

Awesome and gratifying

And some days and months

Drag on with work and work and more work.

It’s all in cycles but if you’re working

Toward something you love

Then it is all of immense value.
