The empty chair behind us
is a reminder.

We often see the apparitions,
an outline, not etched in painting,
transcribed in script.

How can we look back and consider?
The situations we are put in,
The solutions played out by us,
for us.

Decided by others, no choice
or chance, really.

I guess,
when you turn around to an
empty seat
in the classroom.

We quickly lose our pieces
even if we try,
try so damn hard.

It’s not that simple.
Why would it be?
Life would be too easy,
if it were easy.

Our paths are guided by the user.
but it's the disturbances in the road,
the forks jammed in the crevices,
the stolen vegetation spoken by the soggy-bottom rubber,
even the late hoots and the early chirps,

I guess,
when you consider the variables,
THE CHANGE

We are defined
not by us
but by transformation,
the scepter of our acquaintances.

An empty chair
to the rest of us.

A crack
to the rested us.

Walk.
