Clarity

Feelings muddled, lost and lonely,
Are you a friend, or less?
Or. . . more?

I don't want your pity or your guilt.
I want to know what you mean.
Sugar-coated words encircle, trying to save me from what you really mean.
I can handle the truth, but not this crazy half-truth that you want to bring.

If you can't say it honestly, then write it.
Like this:

I

Want

Clarity.

I can deal with what you have to say, but I can't move on if you keep it locked away.
The two of us, we're locked in a cage.
Let your words set us free.
Just let your smooth writing be the key.
When the bars swing forward we can go our separate ways,
or we can stay.

But I can't know until you set me free.
