Teaching first and second graders makes me smile

They make my day with their silly lifestyle

I ask them what they want to do for a career

And one replies loud and clear

“I want to be a ninja turtle!”

While everyone giggles in our learning circle

I love teaching these kids

Because they make my happiness go off the grid

Their laugher fills me with joy

I feel like a child when they get a new toy

These children make me appreciate the little things

Because they smile at everything

All in all, I love teaching these kids all the while

Because these children make me smile
