Beautiful Violet
There’s never a day you don’t cross my mind.
As small as a word, to a memory relinked.
It’s only been a few years but I swear,
It feels like it was just yesterday,
Mom told me you drifted away.
I still don’t understand.
Maybe just maybe,
One day I will.
But for now
Beautiful Violet,
I settle for the occasional memory
That flutters through
Every so often;
And relieve the times we’ve shared.
And weep peacefully upon my bed
As you smile from above
With the man I once thought existed
This poem is about:
My family
