My inside drum has its own sound

It can be ear splitting or barely heard

Or every noise in between

But it’s special and unique and only mine

Not yours, for you have your own

I’m different from those around me

Definitely, not even close to the same

I love the opera and Broadway

Classical music is my forte

Playing my piano, voice, and cello

Have I mentioned that I’m not alike?

From head to toe I’m distinct

I love the outdoors and the melodies

The birds sing and cars honk

And vendors shouting their wares

I am my very own individual

I am separate from the rest

I stand in contrast to others

But they’re not second-rate - they’re perfect

And all find inspiration from people or things

I am completely nonidentical

No one can copy me perfectly

I love sounds of words and noise

Screams and whispers and laughter

Sounds growing or shrinking in volume

Whether I’m overjoyed or upset

Whether I can finish a paper or daydream

Sounds expand my mind to possibilities

Sounds make all the difference
